ESPN Crave’s Tom Haberstroh: Is the Cleveland Browns’ QB situation in tatters?
Posted On July 9, 2021
ESPN Cravath, the sports website owned by ESPN, reported on Tuesday that the Browns have “significant issues” with quarterback Josh McCown, who has yet to play in a regular-season game this season.
McCown missed last week’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after being placed on injured reserve.
He is listed as questionable for Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals after having a shoulder procedure.ESPN said it was not able to confirm the reports.
The Browns’ quarterback situation has been in the spotlight since McCown was hurt.
They lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, the first loss of McCown’s career.
They also lost at home to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17.ESPN’s Tom Hobbs tweeted that McCown has not played in any regular-game games this season, but that he’s a long shot to be inactive against the Bengals.
The Browns had a solid start to the season, winning six of their first eight games and leading the league in points scored.
However, they lost four straight games and lost quarterback Johnny Manziel to a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 14.
The team has since gone 5-8.
